The theme of this painting seems to follow the artworks of the Japanese painter Hiroshige, best known for his landscapes.
There appears to be a high contrast between the stable and robust mountain in the distance and the close field with wonderful but delicate Iris flowers. This constitutes the tragedy of this painting and yet the context gives a sense of peace and calmness.
Oil painting on board. The most famous paint in the world (Old Holland) has been used for this painting.
